Flamenco between seashores

"Flamenco between seashores" is an educational project that aims to show the students new keys to understanding flamenco through outreach and understanding of Andalusian art with other music, in this case with the Tango River Plate, in a simple way, fun and interactive.
The program consists of three blocks:
1º- Screening of a documentary video on HISTORY, ORIGINS AND EVOLUTION OF FLAMENCO. Since Asian Indians (origin of gypsis of today) began their migration through Egypt to reach Spanish lands, until in 2010 UNESCO declared Flamenco as Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
In this part, students will understand flamenco as an art born of miscegenation, example of dialogue between different cultures and customs. Also know the origins of Tango River Plate, the influence of Andalusian music of Latin American folklore (“cantes de ida y vuelta”) and the current connection between the two sides perfectly illustrated in the repertoire of MILONGA.
2.- Graphic statement of the basic keys to understand the beats, RHYTHMS and styles (“palos") of flamenco music. Students will participate with the artists in the development of songs, putting into practice the teachings of clapping accompaniment on guitar, percussion and dancing in different styles; “Tangos, bulerías, soleá, etc.”
They will also discover the Andalusian map according with de style (“palo) that was born in each region of the map.
3.- Concert of the group LA MILONGA with the flamenco dance of MAYTE BELTRÁN.
At this point, students will implement the knowledge acquired and will enjoy the live music.
La Milonga is a group that was born in Almeria (southeast of Andalucia). Their music roots come from flamenco, but their branches and leaves are Southamerican. The result is the harmonious fusion of both musics, wich will teach students gestures of understanding and dialogue between different cultures, creating bonds of understanding and emotional ties.
The UNESCO Declaration in 2010, officially awards to Flamenco music the universal feature that always has had, and LA MILONGA, bringing their music to new shores as a vehicle for understanding between people, is a clear example of this.
